Reiki
Reiki is energy, holistic spiritual hands on healing that has been practiced and taught to millions of people upon originating in Japan nearly a century ago. Reiki restores balance to the body, mind, and spirit. It can bring stress reduction and relief from pain and anxiety, an overall sense of well being.
Mikao Usui who lived in Japan was a spiritual seeker. Not unlike all humans, he encountered many obstacles and setbacks in life. His interests included educating himself in history, medicine, healing practices, and various spiritual philosophies and practices. In his later years while Usui was in a retreat mediation he sensed subtle vibrations above his head. Thru his profound revelation he came to understand this experience and lead him to be aware of the power to ease and balance our four bodies thru divine energy, and to empower others to do the same . Usui collaborated with Dr. Hayashi, a medical doctor, together developing the Usui system. The system of symbols, attunements, and hand placements for various conditions and illnesses were subsequently included in the Reiki handbook.
I have been trained and initiated as a Reiki Master thru the Usui lineage by Sandy Schneider, Reiki Master/Teacher, New Hampshire. I admire, love and am grateful to Sandy as my teacher, mentor, and Earth Angel.
Reiki is performed on a massage table with the client fully clothed. The Reiki practitioner’s hands are either placed lightly on the body or if the client prefers above the body. As the practitioner lays hands on or above the client, the client may feel the energy vibration or a warmth emanating from the hands. Most find results after a single session and certainly more after additional sessions. Reiki is progressively being recognized publicly and utilized today widely in the medical field.
Reiki Prayer, Usui Mikao, Reiki Founder
“Just for today I will not worry.
Just for today I will not be angry.
Just for today I will give thanks for my many blessings.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.”
